The Mawddach Estuary
John Ruskin once said that the only journey in the world that has views to compare with the one from Dolgellau to Barmouth, was the journey from Barmouth to Dolgellau.
Wordsworth described the estuary as "sublime".
Tyddyn Du campsite is situated exactly halfway between Barmouth and Dolgellau within the Snowdownia National Park ... packed with spectacular mountain scenery, lakes, and beautiful green valleys.
As can be seen from the photographs below, the site extends down to the Mawddach estuary, which is a site of special scientific interest [SSSI}
Tyddyn Du campsite is an excellent location for viewing all kinds of wildlife and wildfowl in particular. The campsite is loacated in the middle of ancient oak woodland, with truly spectacular views of Cadeir Idris ... one of the highest mountains in Wales.
